Mayme Marie Grays, 80, of New Bloomfield, died Friday, November 29, 2013, at Villa Marie in Jefferson City, Mo. She was born April 8, 1933, in New Bloomfield. the daughter of the late Ervin and Anna Marie Ferguson Cave. Mayme is survived by her nephew, Fred Cave and his wife Diane of Holts Summit, as well as several cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother, James Cave and her sister, Mable Miller. Opal B. Roberson, 88, of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. Opal was born September 29, 1925, in Monroe County to Emmett Forrest and Coreta Prewitt. Opal married J. Raymond Roberson on October 18, 1941 in Madison, Missouri. She was a homemaker that supported her husband and took exceptional care of her family. Also, she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Opal dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, J. Nova was born August 19, 1932, in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Guy E. and Vergie J. Smith Bailey. She was married on August 27, 1950, in Jefferson City, to Charles E. Woodall, who preceded her in death on April 17, 2005. A resident of the Jefferson City area for most of her life, Nova attended Jefferson City Public Schools. She was employed at the Missouri Farm Bureau, the Missouri Conservation Dept., and at several clerical positions. She was also a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Alan Bolin, 49, of California, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, with his family by his side. He was born on October 17, 1964, in Jefferson City, the son of Gene and Helen (Welch) Bolin. He was married on August 26, 1995, at St. Martin's Catholic Church to Kim Kelsay, who survives of the home. Alan was a 1983 graduate of California High School and a 1988 graduate of Central Missouri State University with a degree in criminal justice. Alan attended Annunciation Catholic Church in California. He was previously the owner of the Wash House Laundromat in California. He also worked for ABB, Maytag, Simpson Tobacco Company, MFA Oil, and L&W Construction. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as watching sports. He loved spending time with his son, Austin, as the two were inseparable. Alan was also an animal lover. Other survivors include: his mother, Helen Bolin of California; one son, Austin Bolin of the home; one brother, Darrell Bolin and wife Sheila of Tipton; one sister-in-law, Susan McPeak and husband Mark of St. Louis; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, David and Paula Kelsay of California; his grandmother-in-law, Ethel Kelsay of California; five nieces and nephews, Holliann Bolin of Springfield, Wyatt and Tristan Bolin of Tipton, and Madden and Quinn McPeak of St. Louis. Larry J. Carver, 64, of Holts Summit, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born September 23, 1949, in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was a graduate of Jefferson City High School and received a degree in Criminal Justice while serving in the U.S. Marines. On June 1, 1974, Larry was united in marriage in Henley, to Kathy Shoults, who survives at their home. Larry worked as a Corrections Officer at the Missouri State Receiving and Diagnostic Center in Fulton. He also worked at Von Hoffmann Press, McGraw Edison, Quaker Windows, and Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, where he served two tours in the Vietnam War. Larry enjoyed fishing, working on small engines, working in his garage, cooking and gardening. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Along with his wife Kathy, Larry is also survived by four children: Larry J. Clarice Mary Miller (nee Klutho), age 88, died Monday, December 2, 2013, at St. Peters Manor, St. Peters, Missouri. She was born January 23, 1925, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Eugene Theodore Klutho and the late Clara Mary Klutho (nee Ortmann). Raised in Overland, Missouri, she graduated from Ritenour High School in 1943. She then worked as a stewardess for Ozark and TWA airlines. In 1973, she began work in the night school office of the University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL), retiring from there in November of 1986. On December 26, 1953, she married Edward S. Miller, who preceded her in death on October 10, 2002. To them were born five children, which they raised in Ferguson, Missouri, all of which survive: Michael (Sharon) Miller of Jefferson City, Missouri, Daniel (Diane) Miller of Fort Collins, Colorado, Susan (Francisco) Linan of Kirkwood, Missouri, Amy (Mark) Turner of St. Charles, Missouri and Matthew (Lori) Miller of St. Charles, Missouri. She is also survived by 12 Grandchildren: Jeremiah (Liz) Miller, Paul (Kendal) Miller, Matthew (Kacy) Miller, Kristin Miller, Benjamin Turner, Jacob (Kristin) Turner, Kathleen Miller, Christopher Miller, Alexander Linan, Nicholas Linan, Luke Turner and Victoria Miller and one Great-Grandchild, Autumn Grace Miller. She is also survived by two brothers, Roy (Shaney) Klutho of Florissant, Missouri and Victor (Joan) Klutho of St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eugenia (Jeana) Harris and Marianne (Mimi) Pauly and an infant sibling. Tootie, as friends and relatives called her, enjoyed reading, walking, bicycling, her grandchildren, a chatty time and McDonald's ice cream cones. Her body was cremated. Her ashes will be buried with her husband in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church in Kirkwood, Missouri on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. Following the Mass, friends and relatives will gather at the home of Amy and Mark Turner for a reception.

Calvin A. Erhardt, 87, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013, at his home. He was born June 20, 1926, in Cole County, the son of Alvin J. and Esther (Franz) Erhardt. He was married to Verna Medler in 1948, who preceded him in death in 2005. He then married Lola Moore Leavell on May 10, 1991, who preceded him in death on May 25, 1998. Calvin attended Zion Lutheran School and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed with Tweedie Shoe Factory from 1946-1947. He worked as a mechanic for McKay Buick from 1947-1951 and then with the Missouri Army National Guard from 1951 until his retirement in 1986. Calvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served at various times as a member of the Men's Club, the Finance Board, the Usher's Board, the Older Adults Board and various other committees. He was also a member of LLL and the Lutheran Hour. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, hunting, camping, traveling and caring for his "Cedar Ranch". Calvin is survived by four children: Richard Erhardt (Jean) of Jefferson City, Karen Barnhart of Henderson, Nevada, Janice Kelly (Dale) of Foristell, Missouri, Lisa Burns (Dan) of Burlington, Kentucky; six grandchildren: Matthew Barnhart, Kristoffer Barnhart, Curt Kelly (Erin), Drew Kelly (Sara), Ashley Craft (Jeremy), and Alex Allmon; six great-grandchildren; long-time companion: Shirley Birdsong; sister: Alvina Gottschamer; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by son: Steven Calvin; and two brothers: Oliver and Cornelius Erhardt. She spent as much time as possible with them and enjoyed baking bread for her kids and grandkids, teaching them along the way. Obituary for Kenneth Eugene Neuenschwander
Kenneth Eugene Neuenschwander, age 87, a native son of Osawatomie, Kan., died Sunday, December 1, 2013, of infirmities at the Life Care Center of Osawatomie. Ken, as he was known to family and friends, was born March 29, 1926, in Osawatomie, the fourth of five children of Orie F. and Mabel (Bachman) Neuenschwander. He grew up in Osawatomie and attended Osawatomie schools graduating from Osawatomie High School in the class of 1944. Upon graduation, Ken was accepted into the Army Air Corps and was called to duty in Amarillo, Texas in August of 1944. He was honorably discharged in December of that year after suffering a training injury. Upon his return to Osawatomie, he worked for a short time on the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a fireman. On May 24, 1945, he married Ona Mae Hays at the First Methodist Church of Osawatomie in a ceremony officiated by the Reverend Max Barnes. The couple moved to Manhattan, Kan. where Ken attended Kansas State University. Ken joined the First Methodist Church there. He completed his course work in only three years and graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. After graduation, Ken and Ona Mae moved the family to Tulsa, Okla. where Ken worked as an accountant for two oil companies. They moved to Jefferson City, Mo. in 1968 when he accepted a position as Auditor for the Missouri Public Service Commission, a state agency that regulates public utilities. When he retired, Ken and Ona Mae moved back to the family home in 1996 at 1016 Walnut in Osawatomie where he worked for the betterment of his home town. He ran for a seat on the City Council and was otherwise active politically. Ken was a loyal husband and father who loved spending time with his children. He supported their education and extracurricular activities including scouting, hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed cooking, barbeques and picnics. He was proud of his Swiss-Mennonite heritage and made numerous trips with his family to learn about family history. He taught himself German and traveled to Germany and Switzerland even visiting the village of Neuenschwand from which his family derived its name. He loved cats, enjoyed his friends and cultivated a lifelong passion as a K-State Wildcat fan. Ken is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ona Mae (Hays); five children, Thomas Hays Neuenschwander of Kenton, Okla., Elaine Neuenschwander of Lawrence, Kan., Kathleen (Michael) Shipley of Kirkwood, Mo., Marlene Neuenschwander of Lawrence, Kan., David Eric Neuenschwander of Kirkwood, Mo.; two grandchildren: Wesley (Christinia Crippes) Teal of Burlington, Iowa, and Walter Teal of Lawrence, Kan.; and two sisters: Thelma (Neuenschwander) Duncan of Osawatomie, Kan. and Doris (Neuenschwander) Kreiger of Silverton, Ore. Ken was preceded in death by a son, Michael Gene Neuenschwander of Kodiak, Alaska in 1978; and two sisters: Betty Lorene Neuenschwander of Osawatomie, Kan. in 1929 and Maxine (Neuenschwander) Long of Chico, Calif. in 2013. Mr. Neuenschwander's cremains will be interred at a Memorial Service to be held at a later date. Obituary for Thomas Albert Brooks
Thomas Albert Brooks, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Missouri. He was born June 5, 1936, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the son of the late Leo and Mary (Stump) Brooks. On February 14, 1965, he was united in marriage in Jefferson City to Judy Wagner, who survives at their home. Tom served in the United States Army ROTC at Oklahoma State University and also served in the United States Army Reserve. He was employed with the Federal Highway Administration as a Civil Engineer for 38 years. Tom was a member of the First Christian Church, where he served as an Usher and Deacon. He also supervised the church van transportation for many years. Tom was a member of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, an avid Oklahoma State, Cardinals baseball fan, Mizzou fan, and Jefferson City Jays fan. He loved to spend time at the Lake boating and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Along with his wife Judy, Tom is also survived by two children: Todd Brooks (Katie) of St. Louis, Missouri, and Trent Brooks (Heather) of Jefferson City; one brother: Chester Brooks (Marta) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister: Marilyn Brooks of Durant, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law: Martha Brooks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother-in-law: Kenny Wagner (Joyce) of Jefferson City; six grandchildren: Jacob, Maggie, Lucas, Sara, Ryan and Seth. He was also preceded in death by one brother: John Brooks. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. William "Bill" Robert White, 62, of Henley, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013, at his home. He was born on June 11, 1951, in Alton, Illinois, a son of Joseph O. and Esther Lee Scroggins White. He was united in marriage on November 3, 1973, to Shirley Stegeman, who survives at the home. Bill attended Alton High School and Bellville Community College in Bellville, Illinois. He worked for Sprint for 34 years, as a cable splicer and worked in alot of the Missouri state office buildings. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. He was a member of IBEW Loc 2, where he served as a Union Rep. Bill served on the Eugene Cole R-V School Board where he was proud to hand both of his daughters their high school diplomas. He enjoyed spending time at Truman Lake with his family, especially his grandchildren, going on trips, spending the winters in Texas, going hunting and fishing, and his dog Ralph, the Beagle, and Buddy, the Puggle. Bill took pride in being able to help others and enjoyed his retirement to the fullest. He is also survived by his two daughters: Sara Seaver (Andy) of Jefferson City and Vanessa Boeckmann (Jason) of Wardsville; three brothers: Joe White (Brenda) of Mt. Olive, Illinois, Jim White of Godfrey, Illinois and David White (Brenda) Pocahontas, Arkansas; four grandchildren: Aiden and Aubrey Boeckmann and Olivia and Will Seaver; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother: Warren White. Obituary for James (Jim) H. Davenport
James (Jim) H. Davenport, age 63, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at his home. Jim was born November 17, 1950 in Macon, Mo., the son of Howard and Ruth Duncan Davenport. He was married on May 28, 1972 in Callao, Mo., to Carol A. Linson. Jim attended Atlanta High School in Atlanta, Mo. and graduated from New Cambria High School, New Cambria, Mo. He graduated from Truman State University with a Degree in Physics. Jim also attended Texas A&M University where he was certified as a meteorologist for the USAF, later graduating with a Master's Degree in Meteorology from the University of Utah, and McKendree University with a Computer Science Degree. He served in the United States Air Force for 22 years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 1996. After retirement from the USAF, Jim was employed with Nexans, Ciber, the Missouri Department of Revenue, and the Office of State Courts Administrator, retiring in December 2012. Jim was a member and deacon at Southridge Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, computers, and was a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace Teacher. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include: his wife of 41 years, Carol Davenport; two sons, Shane Davenport and his wife Carrie of Lake Ozark, Mo., and Cory Davenport and his wife Kristina of Owensboro, Ky.; one daughter, Lori Crockett and her husband Blake of Webb City, Mo.; six granddaughters, Madera Davenport, Savannah Davenport, Briley Davenport, Kylin Davenport, Addyson Davenport, Emersyn Crockett, and a grandson due in May; his sister, Theola Cook of Kansas City, Mo.; and brother, John Davenport of Kansas City, Mo.; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Southridge Baptist Church with the Reverend Ron Zamkus officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Jacksonville, Mo.
