Obituary for Martha Blanche Stark

Friends and family honor the memory of their beloved Martha Blanche Stark, 91, who passed on to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2015, in Scottsdale, Ariz. Martha joins her son, Gary Stark and her husband, James Harvey Stark in their heavenly home. Martha and James (Jim) were married September 7, 1940, in Eldon, Mo. Another important date in her memoir is July 1941, when she accepted the Lord as her Savior, was baptized, and developed a lifelong relationship with fellow believers at Centertown Baptist Church. Martha and Jim had a wonderful life together and enjoyed traveling around the country after their retirement. They loved their home in Missouri but also enjoyed the beautiful mountains and warm weather in Arizona so they began to split their time between friends and homes in both locations. After Jimís passing, Martha decided to make Arizona her full time residence and continued her church life at Crossroads Baptist Church in Arizona and professed her God and ministry to others regardless of where she lived. In this way, the family continues to hear testimony of her life from friends near and afar. Martha accredited much of her work ethic and value system to her German lineage. Her father, Henry, and his brothers migrated to the U.S. from Germany. Martha was born October 2, 1923, in her home in Lohman, Mo. Her mother, Rachel Magdelena Kauffman died shortly after her birth so her father, Henry Carl Meller, who she remembers for his hard work and fiddle playing, was the parental influence in her young life. After his passing, her older sisters, Virginia (Virgie) Jacobs and Irene Welch became little mothers to her and she told many stories of all the lessons and values they taught her, including how to be the best mother in the world! Martha often worked outside of the home to help provide for her family but her most important job in her own words was ìbeing a motherî. As Martha said, ìWhat career could be better than thatî! All of her friends and family attest to the love that she shared with others and her living testimony to her faith in Christ. She became a ìGood Samaritanî to people she met and especially to families who needed clothes, food, or financial help. There was never a stranger in her life and she indiscriminately reached out to everyone. Martha is lovingly remembered and cherished by her four surviving daughters, Darlene Shikles, Linda Mazzulla, Kaye Nilges, Brenda Daniel; her very special daughter-in-law, Erma Stark; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: six sisters and two brothers. Friends and family will be honoring her life with visitation and services on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Centertown Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m., and the Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. She will be taken to rest next to her husband, Jim, at Enloe Cemetery, near Russellville. Memorials are suggested to the Centertown Baptist Church c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are being made under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo., who have been friends and have lovingly provided services to the family for many years.

Gayle M. Belshe, age 79, of Fort Worth, died Tuesday, February 3, 2015, in Fort Worth, Texas. Gayle Marquetta Gruner was born near St. James Missouri in 1935. She spent most of her early adult life in Jefferson City Missouri, and attended Jefferson City High School and Junior College. She was first employed by the Missouri Department of Conservation. In 1956, she met and married her college classmate and friend Ramon Belshe. As a part of Ramon's work, Gayle and Ray had a great experience traveling over a large part of the United States in their early years together. During that time their son Michael was born, and Gayle found herself meeting the challenge of finding a new doctor for Michael in different cities and towns every few weeks. But it was all worth it when she could spend a day at the beach with him when they were in seaside locations. The next phase of her life was more conventional as they lived in Prairie Village Kansas, Moraga California and Seattle Washington. They later settled in Fort Worth where they have enjoyed life for the past 43 years.
