Obituary for Jane Camille Thruston

Jane Camille Thruston, age 88, of Medford, Oregon, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 1, 2015, at Northridge Center in Medford, Oregon, with her son by her side. She began life in Versailles, Missouri on May 14, 1926. She grew up in Jefferson City and sang in the state capitol rotunda for the governor's wife when she was 17, moved to St Louis and then New York City when she was in her early twenties. She had one son, David, who grew up in New York. She passed along her love of reading to her granddaughters, Megan and Sophia. She got to meet and hold Elsie, her great- granddaughter. Jane never was at a loss for words and always made an impression with her wry sense of humor. Jane later moved to California and then Oregon to be near her family. She is survived by her son David, his wife Beverly, granddaughters Megan and Sophia and her great-granddaughter Elsie. A memorial service will be held in Medford, Oregon. Arrangements are under the direction of Conger-Morris Funeral Home in Medford, Oregon.

Jesse S. Carroll, 84, of Vienna, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at his home. Survivors include: his wife, Virginia Carroll; daughters, Carma Helton of Vienna, Charlot (Mike) Fanning of Argyle, and Carolyn Carroll of Siren, Wis.; grandchildren, Stacy Helton of Vienna, Garrett (Tricia) Helton of Vienna, Corby (Ellen) Helton of St. Louis, Christina Sale of Vienna, Jessica Sale of Florissant, Hallie Fanning of St. Louis, Kimberly (Mark) Zerr of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Carroll. In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated and a memorial service will be held at the Vienna Public Cemetery at a future date. Joseph Ryan Terry, 36, of Osage Beach, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at his home. He was born May 23, 1978, in Jefferson City, Mo., a son of Thomas L. and Brenda L. (Weaver) Terry. He was a 1996 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Joe was employed with Unilever, where he has worked since 2002. He previously worked for Mertens Bait & Tackle in Jefferson City, from 1995-2002. Joe loved fishing in Bass tournaments, crappie fishing with family and friends, and attending Mizzou and St. Louis Cardinal events. He attended Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit. He was a member and participated in Bass World Sports, Bassmasters, FLW, Anglers in Action, Big Bass Bash and Fishers of Men. Joe is survived by: his mother, Brenda L. Terry of Holts Summit, Mo.; one brother, Chris L. Terry (wife Angela) of Wardsville, Mo.; maternal grandmother, Fay Weaver of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; one nephew, Blake Terry; one niece, Paige Terry; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Louis Terry. Friends will be received from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2015, at Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit, where a Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 p.m., with Pastor E. Mrs. Mary L. Kliethermes, age 90 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at the Villa Marie Nursing Center. Mary was born February 26, 1924, in Bixby, South Dakota, the daughter of Alfred and Catherine Bruner Wells. She was married in October, 1954 to Benjamin P. Kliethermes, who preceded her in death in 1982. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Mary was employed with the International Shoe Factory for 22 years until the plant closed. She was then employed as an Auditor with the Missouri Dept. of Revenue for several years. Mary enjoyed the outdoors, mushroom hunting, gardening, traveling and her pets. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. Survivors include: one daughter, Sandra Sue Stovall and her husband Steve; one sister, Ellen Gilpin of Russellville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Darla Sue Salmons, Lance Phillip Salmons, and Michelle Lea Love; and six great-grandchildren, Madison, Carson, Jack Logan, Lucas, Henry, and Analyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and five sisters. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2015. Helen Marie Snodgrass, age 88, of Jefferson City, Mo. died Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at the home of her daughter in O'Fallon, Missouri, after her battle with cancer. She was born January 1, 1927, in Steedman, Mo., the daughter of Russell W. and Leota V. (Payne) Vandeloecht. She was married in Jefferson City on November 2, 1946, to Everett F. Snodgrass, who preceded her in death in 1984. Helen began her career in 1944 with Southwestern Bell Telephone as a long distance operator. After 39 years of service, she retired in 1989 from United Telephone as Chief Operator. She was not one to be idle so after her retirement she worked 19 years in product promotion at local stores, meeting, greeting and handing out samples of new products. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Jefferson City and was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers from her time with the phone company. Helen loved to travel, going on several cruises, playing the slots in Las Vegas and the local boats, bus and train trips around the country and local plays and concerts, as well as exercise class and going out to lunch with her many girlfriends. Her hobbies were playing board and card games, crossword puzzles, as well as cooking and gardening - most beautiful yard in the neighborhood. Her favorite time was spent with her family. She is survived by two sons, Eddie Snodgrass (wife Mary Ann) of Clinton, Mo. and Bill Snodgrass (wife Ashley) of Buckeye, West Virginia; two daughters, Linda Miller of St. Peters, Mo. and Terri Brenneke (husband Sam) of O'Fallon, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Russ Miller (wife Beth) of O'Fallon, Mo., Molly Marsh (husband Wes) of O'Fallon, Mo., Leigh Ann Snodgrass of Kansas City, Mo., Kelly Albregts (husband Josh) Troy, Mo., Kyle Snodgrass (wife Kayla) of Ozark, Mo., Casey Cain (husband Josh) of Wentzville, Mo., Sam Snodgrass of Key West, Fla., and Dylan and Jessica Snodgrass of Buckeye, West Virginia.; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as her best four-legged friend and companion, Cuddles; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one brother, Vernon Vandeloecht of Mosely, Va.; and her adopted Aurora Avenue family, Mary and Ashley, Tom, Dusty, Joe, Jennifer, Christina and Lisa, Travis, Amber, Kaiden and Kaila She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Craig Snodgrass; a grandson, Brett Everett Snodgrass; and a great-grandson, Tristan Ryan Albregts. Priscilla Fay Turner, 86, of Jefferson City, peacefully passed away Friday, February 6, 2015, at her home surrounded by those she loved as they celebrated her life. Survivors include: two daughters, Kimberly Turner and Kathleen Sayles; four sons, Frank Bishop, Timothy Turner, Ivan Turner, and Walter Turner. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, brothers, and two sons, Michael Bishop and Brian Turner. In celebrating her life, family recall a compassionate woman with a keen wit. Having seven children in the military it is noted she was an avid supporter of our veterans and a staunch Republican. Arletta Jerene Wiser, 77, of Eugene, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at her residence. She was born on March 15, 1937, in Eugene the daughter of William Lloyd and Carmen Cleo Miles Blackburn, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on June 12, 1955, in Russellville to Marvin E. Wiser who preceded her in death on August 29, 1994. Arletta graduated from Cole County R-1 in Russellville in 1955. She was the Cole County Deputy Circuit Clerk from 1969 to 1977. She worked for the Cole County Sheriffís Department from 1977 until her retirement in 1992, serving for several years as a Deputy. She loved to go to casinos, enjoyed cooking and traveling. She loved visiting her Amish friends in Clark and most recently she enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her great-grandson. She is survived by: her companion Bob Snell; one daughter, Pamela D. Rackers (Mike) of Eugene; one son, Justin L. Wiser (Chris Engeman) of Kansas City; three grandchildren, Diedre Owens of Eugene, Chad Rackers of Fort Lewis, Wash. and Dustin Rackers of Eugene; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Leroy Blackburn of Russellville. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Mason Rackers. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Houser Millard Funeral Chapel. Nila Sue Hagemeyer, 59, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015. She was born on July 15, 1955, in California, Mo., the daughter of Norman Vernon and Nelda Irene (Lister) Aegerter. Nila's name came from her mother's initials. She grew up in Jamestown, Mo., and was a 1973 graduate of Jamestown C-1 High School. Nila later graduated summa cum laude from Columbia College, Columbia, Mo. On March 3, 1974, Nila married James Keith Hagemeyer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California, Mo. James survives at their home in Jefferson City. Nila worked in private industry for two years before joining the State of Missouri workforce where her career spanned 37 years. She especially enjoyed 33 years at the Missouri Public Service Commission where she worked in various positions including legal secretary, designated principal assistant for Commissioners and Chairman, data center manager, and utility management analyst. She reluctantly retired on September 1, 2012, due to health issues. Nila was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Jefferson City, where she served on the altar guild and as a greeter. Nila is survived by her husband James and two sons, Jeremy Keith Hagemeyer and his wife Sandra Lynn Coburn of Washington, D.C. and Joshua Kyle Hagemeyer and his wife Kelley Lucille Hagemeyer of Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Kyle James Hagemeyer, and twins Lucille (Lucy) Jo Hagemeyer, and Henry James Hagemeyer. Other survivors include her brother, Robert Eugene Aegerter and his wife Vickie of Jefferson City; her mother-in-law, Milda Hagemeyer of California, Mo.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Karen Hagemeyer of California, Mo.; two nephews, Scott Aegerter and his fiancÈe Lisa Lawler, and Shaun Aegerter of Jefferson City, Mo.; four nieces, Christina Gish and her husband Larry, Milisa Hagemeyer, and Sara Hagemeyer and her fiancÈe Charles Turner, all of California, Mo., and Angela Christian and her husband Dwight of Holts Summit. Nila is also survived by her five cats, Sydney, Sasha, Sebastian, Simon and Tanzy. She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Aegerter on March 8, 1983; her mother, Nelda Aegerter-Herman, on October 26, 2014; her stepfather, James Herman, on December 23, 2014; and her father-in-law, Oscar Hagemeyer, on April 10, 2003. The family will received friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Mr. John M. "Mike" Sommerer III, age 74 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015, at home surrounded by his family and loved ones after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born January 24, 1941, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of John M. and Jean Huhman Sommerer. He was married on October 25, 1993 in Servierville, Tenn., to Delores Jeannea "Jay" Jarvis. A lifelong resident of Jefferson City, Mike's first employment was working for the Sommerer-owned bakery, Jefferson City Baking Company, while he was in high school. Mike graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1959 and was a fledgling member of the 59er Club. He attended Lincoln University and Drury College before entering the United States Navy. Mike served in the United State Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1969. After his service to our country, Mike returned home to become a salesman for Snap-On Tools and later was employed by Broom Auto Service until its closure. He retired from St. Mary's Health Center. Mike was a past president of the Jefferson City Jaycees and was a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003. Mike loved to travel both by car and train and that love carried into him being a model car and train collector. He loved racing cars and watching NASCAR as well and was able to attend the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500 during his life. Friends and family will remember Mike as a great cook, especially when he helped smoke and fry turkeys for employees of St. Mary's during the holidays. He cherished time barbequing and enjoyed having friends and family at his home for cookouts. He always wanted friends to try his home grown tomatoes and peppers. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jay; three sons, Michael Sommerer of Jefferson City, Matt Sommerer of Jefferson City, Matt Pitts of Centertown; three step-children, Buddie Jarvis (wife Kim) of Holts Summit, Mo., Sherrie Jarvis of Jefferson City, and Troy Jarvis of Liberty, Mo.; three sisters, Jean Wagner of Oxnard, Calif., Kathy Sale of Jefferson City and Judy Palazzari of Jefferson City; two grandchildren, Ashley Sommerer of California, Mo. and Garrett Sommerer of Jefferson City; seven step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary "Sissy" Bremmerkamp. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2015. She was born April 24, 1934,in Osage Bend, daughter of the late Clarence and Anna (nee Mertens) Veit. She was the cherished wife of Tom for 61 years; loving mom of Tom (Leighann) Schmidt, Sharon (Larry) Derhake, Patty (Terry) Bratton, Dan (Barb) Schmidt and Linda Hertelendy; grandma of Thommy, Maryanne (Patrick), Becky (Jerimiah), Mary Beth, Ben (Lauren), Luke, Cindy (Jake), Danny (Maddy), Michael (Niki), Adrie (Craig), Joe, Karch, Garrett and Anna; great-grandma of 10; sister of Clarence (Dorothy), Albert (Marlene), Stan (Charlotte) and the late Quentin (Joyce), Rod (Rose) and Catherine (Larry); dear aunt, cousin and friend. Mary Ann spent her life helping others, and having a positive affect on everyone she encoutered. She devoted her life to her loving grandchildren, influencing their young lives to play a part in who they are today. Louis Bernard Kolb, 82, of Jefferson City, departed this life on Monday, February 9, 2015, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born March 9, 1932, in Wardsville, Mo., the son of the late Joseph J. and Lucy K. (Thessen) Kolb. Louis attended St. Stanislaus Grade School and St Peter High School. He proudly served his country during the Korean War as a Cannoneer in the Artillery Unit and received his honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 1954. On October 2, 1954, he married his high school sweetheart Ruth Ann Luetkemeyer in Jefferson City who survives at the home. Louis was employed by several contractors before he became a sole proprietor in home construction and remodeling. He was a very meticulous carpenter who built many fine homes in the Jefferson City area including one for most of his ten children. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, American Legion Post 5, VFW Post 1003, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2693. He enjoyed his backyard lake, riding the four-wheeler with his grandchildren, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Mizzou football, watching purple martins, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Survivors include his wife Ruth of over 60 years; six sons, Tim Kolb, Mitch (Cindy) Kolb, Kevin (Debbie) Kolb, Jerry (Tammy) Kolb, Curt (Alicia) Kolb, Daniel (Nikki) Kolb; four daughters, Carla Kolb, Sharon (Tom) Wilbers, Natalie (Brad) Roark, Nicole (Doug) Hood, all of Jefferson City; three brothers, Joe (Mary Jane) Kolb, Norbert (Shirley) Kolb, Stanley (Mary) Kolb; one sister, Agnes Volmert; 25 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, Lucille (Leo) Rackers; an infant brother, Albert Kolb; and a brother-in-law, Dick Volmert. Jeffrey "Jeff" Scott Fitzpatrick, 54, of Eldon, Missouri, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center from a 10 month battle with stage 4 cancer. He was born September 30, 1960, in Kansas City, Mo., and grew up in Independence, Mo., the son of Frank Eugene Fitzpatrick (deceased 1990) and Judith Gail (Fenton) Fitzpatrick. He was a 1979 graduated of Fort Osage High School in Independence, Mo. He later graduated from Missouri State University. After college, he worked for James River Corporation and then Reynolds Consumer Products. He owned and operated CafÈ Mason in Brookside. Most recently, he was a server for Tatsu's French Restaurant and after receiving his license from Metropolitan Community College, he became a phlebotomist for St. Luke's Medical Center with a passion to care for people and planned to complete his nursing degree after he "beat" this cancer. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Kansas City. Jeff was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his patients, customers, friends and family alike. He is survived by his mother, Judith Fitzpatrick, Eldon; one brother, Gregory Fitzpatrick and sister-in-law Sherry L. Fitzpatrick, Jefferson City; one nephew, Kyle (Alyson) Fitzpatrick; two nieces, Lindsey (Tom) Dawson and Shannon Fitzpatrick; three great-nephews; and one great-niece (all of whom adore their Great Uncle Jeff). Mark's survivors include: his mother, Helen Wenkel of Holts Summit; son, Jason Wenkel of Owensville; his girlfriend of 11 years, Verla Summers of Holts Summit; step-daughters, Rachel Summers of Holts Summit and Kristen Moore of Fulton; granddaughter, Lexie Wenkel; step-grandson, Carter Moore; brother, Terry Wenkel and wife Jackie of Russellville; nephew, Jack Wenkel and wife Jennifer of New Bloomfield; niece, Sandy Withers and husband Gary of New Bloomfield; and by several other nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Sanford. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville with Rev. Chuck Norris officiating. The cremains will be interred in Countryside Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Ronald Joseph Vieth, 64, of Taos, passed peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, surrounded by family at Parkway Group Home in Jefferson City, Mo. Ronnie was born on July 18, 1950, to the late Joseph A. Vieth and Helen "Sugie" (Weavers) Vieth of Jefferson City. After graduating Peter Pan State School at the age of 19, Ronnie started his 46 year career at Capital Projects, Inc. where he retired from last July on his 64th birthday. He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a "Shepherd" in the SFX Contemporary Choir. His favorite song was "Silent Night" and his rendition of the song was unforgettable. No one who met Ronnie forgot his infectious smile or heartwarming hugs which will both be dearly missed. He loved to go to work at Capitol Projects, and the friends that he made at the workshop became his family and lifelong bowling buddies. Ronnie loved bowling, working on the farm, watering cows and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a hard worker and never let you forget to pay him his dollar for his efforts. He was also the "unofficial" coach on every bench through his nieces and nephews many years of athletic events. His sideline play calls were unforgettable and brought home many trophies. Hamburgers and orange soda were Ronnie's staples and he could eat it for every meal should Sugie have let him. Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Vieth, his maternal grandparents, Eleanor and Leonard Heimericks Weavers, his paternal grandparents, John and Helen Vieth as well as several aunts and uncles. In addition to his mother, Ronnie is survived by his brother; Dave Vieth (Sharon) of Taos, three sisters; Joyce Rackers (AJ) of Linn, Karen Holterman (Paul) of Taos, and Amy Vieth (Brad Robnett) of Martin, TN. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with a Prayer Service at 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. Wayne Boyer officiating. Interment will be at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in Ronnie's honor to Capitol Projects (Shelter Workshop) and Cole County Residential Services (Parkway Group Home). James Franklin "Jim" Clarkston, 75, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. He was born January 3, 1940, in Centralia, Mo., the son of the late John Wesley and Jennie (Holzer) Clarkston. He was united in marriage on September 26, 1959, at Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church in Mary's Home to Rita E. Lueckenhoff who survives at the home. Mr. Clarkston worked for DeLong's, Inc. from 1957 until his retirement in 2001 as an inventory control manager. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he served as an usher, money counter, and assisted with funeral luncheons, member of the St. Peter Men's Sodality, member of the Mary's Home Knights of Columbus where he served as past Grand Knight and a member of the Brazito/Honey Creek Lion's Club where he served as a past President. Mr. Clarkston was a co-founder of the South Missouri River League Youth Baseball, was a manager of Babe Ruth Baseball teams and coached basketball for his sons. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, playing Mexican Train Dominos and traveling to Branson. He especially loved to watch his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Rita, he is survived by: six children, Roger (Bonnie) Clarkston, Eldon, Gary Clarkston, Jefferson City, Rick (Christy) Clarkston, St. Charles, Karen (Jeff) Brondel, St. Martins, Brenda (Les) Niemeyer, Oregon, Wis., Rhonda (Harold) Forck, Taos; 12 grandchildren, Barbara Hobbs (fiancÈ Dustin Sutherland), Seana Hobbs (fiancÈ Mikey Scott), Bradley Clarkston, Jennifer Clarkston (fiancÈ Christopher Bell), Jorie Clarkston, Megan (Chad) Sommerer, Nathaniel Niemeyer, Zachary Niemeyer, Michaela Niemeyer, Alexandria Niemeyer, Adam Forck, Ashley Forck; eight great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Lawrence Clarkston, Charlie Clarkston, William "Bill" (Helen) Clarkston, all of Jefferson City, Wilburn Clarkston, Westphalia, Mary Jane (Rowland) Doerhoff, Ruthie Clarkston, Darrell "Cotton" (Joyce) Clarkston, Charyl Clarkston, all of Jefferson City; and six brother and sisters-in-law, Theresa Rush, Adele Lueckenhoff, Dorothy (Leander) Berendzen and August "Gus" (Carol) Lueckenhoff. Stella Mae Richards, 93, of Tebbetts, Mo., passed away Friday, February 13, 2015. She was born on January 22, 1922, in Tebbetts, Mo., the daughter of Roy Coleman "Colie" and Charlotte "Lottie" (Beasley) Dickson. On December 8, 1941, Stella Mae married Ralph E. Richards. Stella Mae grew up in Tebbetts and was a graduate of Mokane High School. Later Stella Mae taught school at Barkersville School and Hickory Grove School. She was a member of the Barkersville Christian Church and well known in the Tebbetts Community for her cooking and thoughtfulness of others. Stella Mae is survived by her daughter, Delores Kay Hord and husband George; sons, Eugene "Butch" Richards and wife Elaine, and Sam Richards and wife Donalane. Other survivors include grandchildren, Nancy, Tim, and Melissa Hord, Chad (Emily) Horstman, David (Ashlea) Horstman, Julie (David) Love, Paula (Will) Klutho, Samantha (Curt) Werdehausen, and Kathy (Chris) Meloy; and 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by husband, Ralph E. Richards; one daughter, Dona Jean Horstman; two infant sisters; two brothers, Albert and Walter Dickson; and two sisters, Francis Taylor and Ruth Frank. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Pati Robertson officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Link Cemetery in Wainwright, Mo.
