(Turner) Blunt Jr. Maria was a graduate of Lincoln Lab in Jefferson City and later attended Lincoln University. In June of 1974, she married Eric Kelley and one child, Quantanya Kelley came on November 26, 1975. Along with her parents, she is survived by one daughter: Quantanya Marsaw husband Daryl; three grandsons: Lavante Kelley, Keyan Kelley and Collin Marsaw; two sisters: Marilyn Venson and Renee Blunt; two nieces: Angela Blunt and Tisha Blunt; one nephew: Leon Blunt and a host of cousins, great- nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Robert Webb. Billie Fredrick "Bill" Lester, 85, formerly of Pierce City, Mo. and Woodland Park, Colo., passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 in Columbia, Mo. He was born November 22, 1928 in Independence, Mo., the son of the late William Carey Lester and the late Bertha May (Lewis) Lester. Shortly after his birth, his parents moved to the Lester family farm in Lawrence County, Mo. He graduated from Pierce City High School in Pierce City, Mo. He went to college one year before making two six-month tours on a merchant marine ship, the U.S.S. Hodges. He returned to Missouri and married Mary Ruth Nalley on the 5th of June, 1949. She survives. They are parents of three children, the late William Fredrick "Rick" Lester, Jeanie Kay Riddle (Randy) of Mokane, Mo., and Daniel Stephen Lester (Fonda) of Jackson, Miss; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Lester of Woodland Park, Colo. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, William Carey Lester (Amber), Sarah Ann Wilkerson (Chris), Randee Rae Phelps (Luke), Thomas Aaron Riddle (Dana), Samantha Rae Lester, Hanna Nicole Lester, John Conner Lester, and Jada Danielle Lester; seven great-grandchildren, William Patrick, Abigail, Henry, Aaron, Benjamin, Lucas, and Jackson. Along with his parents and son, Rick, he was preceded in death by brother, Donald Hugh Lester; sister, Mildred Lester; and great-grandson, Noah Wilkerson. Mr. Lester spent several years in the Pierce City, Mo. National Guard, finishing out 27 years of service in a St. Louis, Mo. unit as a captain. He worked 39 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1987 from their State Personnel Office. After retirement he and his wife traveled extensively. In 2002 the Lesters moved to Colorado near their son, Rick Lester, who is deceased as of July 20, 2013. Mr. Lester and his son both loved life and lived it to its fullest. Bill had a deep and personal love of both God and family and gave great importance to standing by his principles. He had a spirit of adventure and a passion for the outdoors, history, and the written word. His possessed a quick wit and terrific sense of humor. He had all the attributes of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Harold John Green, age 61, of Gasconade Mo, formerly of Chamois Mo., passed away on Friday December 13, at Boone County Hospital after over a year battle with cancer. Harold was born in Jefferson City on June 19,1952, to Uel and Bettie (Butler) Green of Belle, Mo. He was the husband of Deborah (Roberts) Green. They were united in marriage December 12, 1975, at Faith Baptist Church in Belle. In 2010, Harold and Debbie invited Thiago (Chee) Palma to be their foreign exchange student from Campinas Brazil, he continued on after high school graduation as a college student and has been a part of their lives ever since. Harold first taught school at Osage R-1 Schools in Chamois, 1976, as history teacher and guidance counselor and was principal for 16 years during his 37 years, as he had recently retired. Harold was called into ministry in 1999, and was ordained and licensed as a Baptist minister. He was called by First Baptist Church, Gasconade in 2000, and in 2003, they moved to Gasconade after living in Chamois for 28 years. Harold had many interests, among them being antiques. Since he loved history and old things, that went well together. When traveling on a vacation, antiques were always a part. Harold enjoyed his two grandsons and was always showing them the trains that went by the home. He loved trains, history and he loved Colorado, he also had a great collection of the 1904 World's Fair in St.Louis. Harold's passion was his church and the people. He loved his Tuesday night Men's Prayer group and he loved preaching God's word. As a school teacher for many years, Mr. Green's love for his students was evident, he said they always kept him young and full of energy and he loved to teach them his values and his life principals to be a person of high integrity. Harold is survived by his mother, Bettie Green of Belle Mo.; two daughters, Julie Green of Gasconade and her finance Chris Jackson of Linn. and Jena (Green) Kontz and her husband Gregory Kontz of Hermann and their two sons James and Daniel; one brother, Burley Green and his wife Tammy (Branson) Green of Owensville; one sister-in-law, Ruth Lamb of Jefferson City. He also is survived by his nieces and nephews and his great-nieces and nephews as well. Harold is preceded in death by his father, Uel Green of Belle. Bryan James Kennedy, (Ticker) 22, of Prairie Home, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born on May 12, 1991, in Mansfield, the son of James and Teresa (McIntosh) Kennedy. Bryan was a 2009 graduate of Prairie Home High School. While in high school he played basketball, baseball, and track. He also helped coach the midget league baseball team for a couple of years. Bryan also loved slow pitch softball and traveled many places to play ball. Bryan attended Lincoln University, in Jefferson City, along with State Fair Community College in Sedalia. He was working on a major in broadcast journalism in sports. Bryan was currently working at Casey's General Store in California. He had also worked at Cargill in California, Boonville Casino in Boonville, and Nordyne Inc. in Tipton. Bryan was always on the go, nothing ever held him back. He had a smile that could light up any room. Bryan was a huge sports fan. He loved Alabama football, he was a fan for life. He enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals. He could give you stats on any sports team. He enjoyed playing video games, but most importantly Bryan enjoyed being with family and friends. There were very few times when Bryan didn't know somebody, he was a social butterfly. He was truly an inspiration to many and will be missed by many. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Junior was a 1947 graduate of Jefferson City High School and he attended the Jefferson City Junior College. He graduated from the Kemper Military Academy in Boonville, Mo. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner of Tennyson's Furniture Store for many years. Later, he was employed as the Director of Telecommunications for the Missouri State Senate for several years. Junior was a member of the First United Methodist Church; the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; and the United Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, woodworking, boating, and was a certified scuba diver. Most importantly, he loved spending time with the family. Clyde Thomas Patterson, 73, of Eugene, departed peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born October 27, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Army from 1958-1961. After serving in the military, Clyde attended Bowling Greene University. On June 28, 1991, Clyde married Carolyn Patterson who resides at their home in Eugene. Clyde retired from the Division of Youth Services in Macks Creek. After retirement, he worked part time supervising young men with mental and physical disabilities at Jefferson City residential care home. He was a dedicated member and Deacon of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Jefferson City. Clyde was instrumental in maintaining a flourishing Bible study in Eldon. Obituary for Dean Elliott
Dean Elliott, 75, of California, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at his home. He was born on January 22, 1938, in Moniteau County, the son of Brent and Ruth (Howard) Elliott, both of whom preceded him in death. Dean worked for Ralston Purina for many years, and was a self employed mechanic, union painter, owned Sinclair Station in California, and also sold fuel, tires, and parts for 10 years at local race tracks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, but most of all, sprint car racing. He loved spending time watching sprint car races, and racing all over the Midwest. Dean was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons: Rick Elliott and wife Mary of Tipton, and Darryl Elliott and wife Rhonda of California; five grandchildren: Alyssa, Kayla, Travis, Ryan, and Tyler Elliott; and one special loving friend, Linda Hayes of California. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Keith and Vernon Elliott. Funeral Services will be on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home in California. Officiating will be the Rev. Ken Mathes. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Clarksburg. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Shirley Colleen Bock, 82 of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Oak Tree Villa. She was born November 10, 1931, in Oran, Missouri, the daughter of the late Linus and Addie (Parks) Bernard. On July 12, 1952, she was united in marriage in Piggott, Arkansas to Dallas G. Bock, he preceded her in death on June 25, 1992. Shirley was a 1949 graduate of Oran High School. She was employed with the phone company for over 35 years and for a few years in the 1970's with Gordon Realty. Shirley enjoyed playing games, traveling, spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren's sports events. Shirley is survived by two sons: Steven Bock and Michael (Beth) Bock, both of Jefferson City; two daughters: Deborah (Michael) Miles of Hays, Kansas and Dana (Tom) Millsap of Lebanon, Missouri; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother; Charles Bernard of Lake Mohave, Arizona; one sister: Elwanda Shrum of Greenville, Michigan; two sisters-in-law: Olivia Bernard of Pheba, Mississippi and Wanda Bernard of Little Rock, Mississippi and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Noble, Wes, Jack, Malcole and Carl. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2013, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Eyana "Nana" Janae White, 12, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at her home. Her sunrise was April 20, 2001, in Jefferson City, the daughter of Jerimaine Christopher and Rhonda Lee (Anthony) White. Nana was a 7th grade student at Lewis and Clark Middle School, where she enjoyed math and science. She enjoyed fixing hair, doing nails, listening to music and roller skating. Nana loved animals and had a passion for raising and breeding dogs. She loved watching movies. Nana's favorite movie was the Twilight series, Jacob being her favorite actor in the movie. Along with her parents, she is survived by three siblings: Kalie Anthony, Maleek White and Daisia White; paternal grandmother: Rachel White of Jefferson City; paternal great-grandfather: Silas White of East St. Louis and great-great-grandfather: William Silas White of East St. Louis; godfather: John Doyen; aunts and uncles: Kevin Fowler of Meta, Connie Lekey (Keith) of Hermann, David B. Taylor of Jefferson City, David V. Taylor of East St. Louis, Jeremiah Taylor of Columbia, Rochelle Taylor of Columbia, Lucille Taylor of New York and Toni White of Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Sharon and Tony Anthony, paternal grandfather: Willie A. Jefferies and one uncle Lonnie Fowler.
