Obituary for Marvin Thomas Childress

Marvin Thomas Childress, 87, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013, at his home. He was born December 1, 1925, in Lupus, Missouri, a son of the late Harry N. and Cora Mae (Martin) Childress. He was a 1944 graduate of Prairie Home School in Prairie Home, Missouri. On April 4, 1949, he was united in marriage in Centertown, Missouri, to Ida Elizabeth Harris, who preceded him in death on October 11, 2011. Marvin was a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served in World War II in the South Pacific from 1944-1946. He worked for Terminal Railroad until 1955, then went to work for the Missouri Department of Transportation from 1956-1989, where he retired as Aggregate Inspector. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, where he served for many years as deacon and teacher in the Children's Sunday School Department. Marvin enjoyed vegetable gardening for his family, attending Gospel Music Concerts and listening to gospel music. Most of all, loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Marvin is survived by a daughter: Marlene Childress Neely (husband Stan) of Holts Summit; a son: Gerald Childress (wife Missy) of Jefferson City; three grandchildren: Taylor Childress Schaefer (husband Wyatt), Cora Childress and Peyden Childress; one brother: Kenneth Childress of Boonville; four sisters: Ethel Osborne of Jamestown, Hazel Lampton of Versailles, June Hayes of Kansas City, and Rose Schulze of Jamestown. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Harvey Childress and Harold Childress. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2013, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 4930 Old Lohman Road, Jefferson City, MO 65109. Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Brian K. Credille and Pastor Lyle Witcher officiating. Alan Franklin Eagle, age 86 years, of Jefferson City, formerly of St. Louis, Mo., died peacefully Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at St. Joseph's Bluffs. Alan was born on November 28, 1926, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Curtis Franklin and Clara McDonald Eagle. He was married on September 22, 1951, in St. Louis, Mo., to Etta May Miller, who preceded him in death. Alan became a skilled lip reader at a young age to compensate for a severe hearing loss. He graduated from Miamisburg High School in Miamisburg, Ohio at the age of 16, where he was valedictorian of his class. He then attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, graduating in 1948. Alan began his career in St. Louis Missouri, as a co-op intern at McDonnell Aircraft Corporation, "MAC," where he was later employed as a mechanical engineer. He worked there for 45 years until his retirement in 1991. During his years at MAC/ Boeing, Alan worked on many projects, including the F4H Phantom II, the F15 Eagle, the F18 Hornet and the AV8 Harrier. He also contributed to the Mercury and Gemini space programs. Alan was a member of the Webster Groves Presbyterian Church and the Scottish St. Andrews Society of Greater St. Louis. Alan was a softball coach for his girls, and a behind-the-scenes supporter of his family's many Girl Scout activities. He had a great love for Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, was an avid reader, excelled at the game of horseshoes, enjoyed watching British TV and was always interested in anything to do with aviation and rail transport. Alan was regarded by all as a quiet and loving gentleman. Survivors include: one brother, Lee S. Eagle and his wife Jean of Miamisburg, Ohio; three daughters, Bonnie Howe and her husband Kenneth of Beaverton, Ore., Robyn Fleming and her husband John of Jefferson City, Mo. and Donna Eagle Joslin and her husband Blake of Swannanoa, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Andrew Howe of Beaverton, Ore., Scott Howe of Beaverton, Ore., Becky Meyer of Kansas City, Mo., Amy Crawford of Kansas City, Mo., Callie Fleming of Columbia, Mo., Joshua Eagle-Wilkinson of Swannanoa, N.C., and Emma Eagle Joslin of Swannanoa, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Cade Crawford and Riley Crawford of Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife of 59 years, Etta May. Services to celebrate Alan's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on October 26 at the Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home in Miamisburg, Ohio. Clyde Marshall Rea, age 74, of Enon, died suddenly Monday, September 23, 2013, at University Hospital in Columbia of bleeding on the brain. He was born September 27, 1938, on the family farm in Enon, the only son of Ed and Marie McGinnis Rea. Clyde attended elementary school for eight years at Lincoln School, one mile from his teacher, Dorothy Hahn's house. He was a 1956 graduate of Eldon High School, where was active in band (French horn) and FFA. Clyde attended Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, graduating in 1960 with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Boeing in Wichita, Kansas for two years, traveling to Hawaii and Alaska on test flights for airplane instruments. He then joined the Sperry Rand Corporation as a flight instrument designer and producer in Salt Lake City, Utah. Here he met Hazel Hall at the Crossroads Methodist Church Oxford Club, and they were married December 31, 1964, in Phoenix, Arizona. 20 years and two children (Marshall and Carin) later, Clyde was transferred to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he worked for Honeywell until his retirement in 1998. Clyde was active in retirement. He was Children's Church Co-Director at Enon Baptist Church and secretary of the Enon Cemetery Board. He enjoyed volunteering at the Eldon High Woodshop with Kent Hannah. He also was a substitute teacher for Eldon, Russellville and Eugene schools. Clyde read "How to" books constantly, especially those pertaining to woodworking. He was a member of two woodworking clubs, one in Camdenton and one in Columbia. For years he cut out scroll-saw Christmas ornaments for the kindergartners at Immanuel Lutheran School in Honeycreek. He specialized in cutting boards, which were largely given as wedding gifts. Clyde is survived by his wife, Hazel; two children, Carin Marie Rea of Tempe, Arizona, and Ralph Marshall Rea of Enon; one sister, Donna Rea Hanly of Columbia; along with nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and his two Schnauzers, Max and Alex. His parents, Ed and Marie and a sister, Loyce Rea Robinson preceded him in death. A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 27, at the Enon Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Digby and Rev. Jim McDonald officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Friday. In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated. Private inurnment will be at a later date in the Enon Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Enon Cemetery Fund. Kevin Ray Crawford, 48, of Steedman, was called to his Heavenly home on Monday, September 23, 2013, following a valiant battle against cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Kevin was born March 7, 1965, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Betty (Green) Crawford and the late Karl D. Crawford. Kevin retired from the United States Army Reserves after proudly serving his country for 22 years. While in the Reserves, he worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections, SEMA, and Homeland Security. He was a member of the Church of God Holiness. An avid outdoors man, Kevin loved fishing with his family and friends especially at Pomme De Terre Lake. He also enjoyed reading and was an exceptional cook. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Tessa (Powers) Crawford of Steedman; son, Kalen Crawford of Jefferson City; step-daughter, Tracy Young of Steedman; brother, Karl Preston (Dora) Crawford of Fulton; half-brothers, Terry (Jan) Hammontree of Edwardsville, Kan., and Steven (Nickie) Hammontree of Mountain Home, Ark.; half-sister, LeeAnn (Cecil) Freeze of Edwardsville, Kan.; mother and father-in-law, Joe and June Powers of Steedman; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Heidi Powers of Steedman; several nieces and nephews; and best friends, Craig and Lisa Beck of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his father, Karl Crawford; sister-in-law, Tracie Powers; and grandparents, Ernest and Letha Crawford and Roscoe and Mollie Green. Jerome George (Jerry) Plassmeyer, 89, of Owensville, Mpo., died Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Adams Street Skilled Care in Jefferson City, Mo. Jerry was born in Argyle, Mo., on February 19, 1924, to the late Bernard and Pauline (Schell) Plassmeyer. On June 9, 1948, he married Eleanor Winter in Owensville. He served his country with honors in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Signalman. He was assigned to one ship for duty, however; he and his buddy got on the wrong ship, the USS Rocky Mount, which carried the Admiral. Since they were short a couple of men, the admiral kept them on the USS Rocky Mount. Jerry owned and operated Jerry's Bar for 30 years, now known as Bogey's in Owensville. Through the years, he served on the Park Board of Owensville several times,was a charter member of VFW Post 6133 and Owensville Lion's Club. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and Knights of Columbus. His survivors include one son, David Plassmeyer and wife Rhonda of Lebanon, Mo.; and one daughter, Sheila Meyer and husband John of Jefferson City; two sisters, Mary Ann Blaske and husband Gene of Owensville and Betty Biermann of Sullivan; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Winter and his parents. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Church in Owensville with Fr. Betty was born January 11, 1923, in Maryville, to William and Dorothy (Pierce) Chaves. A 1940 graduate of Maryville High School, Betty received her Bachelors degree from Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas, and Masters degree in Guidance and Counseling from Florida State University, Pensacola, Florida. Betty taught school in Barnard, Elmo and Stanberry, Missouri, and Pensacola, Florida. She was a longtime guidance counselor at Benton High School, St. Joseph, Missouri. Betty was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Maryville and the Benton High School Red Coaters. Survivors include: daughter, Barbara Finn, Pensacola, Florida; son, Turner (Linda) Tyson II, Jefferson City, Missouri; grandchildren, Robert (Kristi) Finn, Will Finn, Rebecca Finn, Samantha Tyson, Leslie Tyson, and Laura Tyson; and three great-grandchildren. Glenn Eugene Pabst, 82, of Fulton, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Fulton Presbyterian Manor. He was born March 5, 1931, in Hannibal, Mo., the son of the late George W. Pabst and the late Ruby P. (Taylor) Pabst. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Maxine (Still) Pabst on November 28, 1954. She survives at their home. Glenn graduated from Hannibal High School and went on to receive an Associate's Degree from Hannibal LaGrange College. Glenn proudly served his country for 40 years as a Military Policeman in the Army National Guard. Following his retirement, Glenn and Dorothy wintered in South Padre Island, Texas. He was a sports fan and supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals and Missouri Tigers. He enjoyed fishing, his train sets and country music. The times most special to him were those spent with his family. Glenn was a former member of the Fulton Kiwanis Club and had served as President. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; sons, Michael Pabst of Los Angeles, Calif., Larry (Kathy) Pabst of Jefferson City, and Daniel (Kimberly) Pabst of Fulton; daughter, Linda Jones of Fulton; brothers, Gerald T. (Derene) Pabst of Chandler, Texas, and Leroy W. (Mary) Pabst of Bellflower, Calif.; grandchildren, Jeffrey Pabst, Mariah Jones, Marissa Jones, and Walker Pabst; and great-grandchildren, Noah Shores and Olivia Pabst. Jerome Bernard Brondel, age 82, of Eldon, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013. Jerome was born November 3, 1931 to Charles and Marie (Rau) Brondel. Jerome graduated from Tipton High School, Tipton, and served during the Korean Conflict as an Army Platoon Sergeant 35th Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He retired after a 40 year career with Hallmark Cards, Inc., Kansas City. Jerome and Dolores moved to Eldon where Jerome became a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also actively involved with the Miller County Historical Society, the Eldon Chapter of D.A.R. and the Honor Guard of the VFW Post 2442 of Eldon. Jerome had many and varied interests including many years of attendance at the annual Russellville Steam Engine Show and the Oshkosh Air Show. He will be missed by his sister, Evelyn Jobe of San Jose, Calif.; his brother, Harry and wife Vena Brondel of Sugar Land, Texas; his step-sister, Ruth Ann and husband Marvin Schuster of Cataula, Ga.; his step-daughter, Sherry Davis of Kansas City, Kan.; step-daughter, Valorie Shipley of Boonville, and her children, Jason Everett of San Francisco, Calif. and Adria Everett of Kansas City; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Charlie Brondel; his granddaughter, Autumn Brondel; most recently by his wife, Evelyn Dolores Brondel; half-brother, Wayne Allen Schuster; and step-sister, Millie Lammers. His family would like to express their appreciation to his many friends for their support. Edward Wankum, 84, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at Adams Street Place. He was born June 9, 1929, in Wardsville, Missouri, a son of the late Frank C. and Philomena (Bisges) Wankum. On May 7, 1955, Ed was united in marriage to Jean Kleene in Jefferson City, who survives at the home. Ed was a graduate of St. Peters High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was co-owner of Al Scheppers Motor Company until his retirement in 1995. Ed was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, and American Legion. Ed loved many things in life. He loved to fish, take walks, and spend time with his family. He was very popular with his grandchildren when he made all of their favorite cookies and "Grandpa Bread". Along with his wife, Jean, he is survived by seven children: Janice Orr (Sam) of Jefferson City, Mike Wankum (Cynthia) of Jefferson City, John Wankum (Lori) of Littleton, Colorado, Linda Paulsrud (Ron) of Lee's Summit, Barb Collens (Dennis) of Lee's Summit, Tom Wankum (Robin) of Lee's Summit, and Mark Wankum (Julie) of Taos; one brother: Greg Wankum (Doris) of Jefferson City; one sister: Mildred Coughlin (George) of Littleton, Colorado; 17 grandchildren: Shanna Wankum, Tony Wankum, Louisa Orr, Rachel Wankum, Angela Orr, Leah Wankum, Heather Wankum, Lucas Wankum, Tricia Wankum, Ben Collens, Sarah Paulsrud, Jennifer Collens, Nicole Collens, Krista Paulsrud, Jake Wankum, Lexie Wankum, and Kassidy Wankum. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert Wankum and Rudy Wankum; and two sisters: Florence Wankum and Thersa Wankum. Donna Lee Meyer, 66, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013, in Jefferson City. She was born November 29, 1946, in Jefferson City, Missouri, daughter of the late Arthur S. and Norma L. (Bittick) Strope. On July 20, 1974, she was united in marriage to David F. Meyer, who survives at the home. Donna was a 1964 graduate of Helias Catholic High School and attended Merrell University. She was a long-time beautician in Jefferson City and was owner of Korner Antique and Collectibles. She enjoyed filling the store with antiques, painting and working on craft projects. Donna loved spending time with her family and friends but especially her grandchildren. Along with her husband, David, she is survived by six children: Keith Mueller (Lora) of Jefferson City, Michelle Loethen (Lance) of Russellville, Julie Schrimpf (Shannon) of Jefferson City, Jayme Prenger (Chris Rodriguez) of Jefferson City, Paul Meyer (Lori) of Lohman, and Jonathan Meyer of Holts Summit; four brothers: Gary Strope (Evelyn) of Meeker, Colorado, Doug Strope (Mary), Steve Strope and Jim (Dee) Strope, all of Jefferson City; 10 grandchildren: Taylor Wolz and Kaleb Mueller, Jared and Shelby Loethen, Tristan and Tanner Schrimpf, Ashley and Clayton Meyer, and Taylor and Joseph Meyer; and her aunt: Virginia Surbaugh. She was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law: Joseph and Mary Meyer, along with nieces and nephews. Albert Paul "Buddy" Hudson, age 60, of Columbia, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013, at the University of Columbia Hospital. He was born November 25, 1953, to Dorrie McMillin Hudson, who preceded him in death. On February 8, 1974, he married the love of his life, Lynn, who survives at the home. After graduating from high school in Jefferson City, he moved to Columbia in 1972 where he attended college and worked at the Rusk Rehabilitation Center for many years. Buddy was an amazing man that never let his disabilities keep him from living a full and happy life or keep him from doing the things he loved. He was an avid fisherman and loved cooking and being outdoors. He loved his family and would do anything to help any person in need. Survivors include: brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, nieces, nephews, numerous lifelong friends, and his McMillin cousins who were like brothers and sisters to him. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Hoffman. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

John David Haldiman, 60, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at his home with his family by his side. John David Haldiman was born on August 6, 1953, to Jack Paul Haldiman, Cottonwood, Ariz. and Mary Allean Ramsdell Campbell, Holts Summit, Mo. He was raised by his paternal grandparents, Paul Roy and Alverta Rose Heinen Haldiman who preceded him in death. He loved them very much and felt lucky to be loved and raised by such good people. David was a member and attended Annunciation Catholic Grade School and Church. After graduating from California High School in 1971, he attended college and played baseball at State Fair Community College. He finished his Bachelor's in Economics from the University of Central Missouri in 1977. David met Marcia Larimore in 1972. They dated throughout college and were married on March 24, 1979, at Annunciation Catholic Church in California, Mo. She survives at the home. Family was important to David. He was most proud of his children, Nate, Meagan, son-in-law, Luke and his beautiful granddaughter, Roselyn Jewel Shawhan. He called her his "Little Bit" and felt so blessed to be her grandpa. After college, David worked for Household Finance in Kansas City, Mo. He then was a "Workforce Development Manager" for 19 years for the Mo. Department of Economic Development. In 1997, David was appointed by the late Gov. Mel Carnahan as the Moniteau County Circuit Clerk and Recorder of Deeds. He felt it a privilege to serve the citizens of his county. He retired in June 2010. After retirement he worked as a parts runner for Illinois Valley Paving during the construction of the new Highway 50, and the U.S. Post Office in Jamestown Mo. David currently served as President of the Moniteau County Public Water Supply District #2. David loved sports and had several hobbies including playing cards, collecting baseball cards, a fantasy baseball league, trivia contests, and golf with friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed many weekends playing slow pitch softball with the Goobers softball team and watching his kids in their sports and activities. He was a huge fan of the KC Royals, Chiefs, Mizzou Tigers, and California Pintos. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a charter member of the California Eagles Club, California Country Club, and "20 Club". He was a past member of the Moniteau County Historical Society, Lions Club, Moniteau County Democrat Club, and Mid-Mo Democrat Club. In addition to his grandparents, David was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jacqueline Haldiman; an infant brother, Jack Earl Haldiman; his step-mother, Dolores Walton Haldiman; step-father, Robert Campbell; mother and father-in-law, Velma and W.N. Larimore; and brother-in-law, Wm. Cleo "Buddy" Larimore. David is survived by his immediate family; his mother and father; sisters, Gillian Cook, Debbie Gerlach, Dayna Estrello, Cyndie Ewy; and brothers, Rob Campbell, Rex Campbell, and David Gerlach. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends who meant a lot to him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Annunciation Catholic Church in California with a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the church also. Mary A. Brandt, age 71, of Frankenstein, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2013, at her home. Mary was born October 31, 1942, in Frankenstein, a daughter of the late Joseph and Regina (Dudenhoeffer) Troesser. She married her high school sweetheart, Leo H. Brandt, on June 3, 1961 at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Frankenstein. He preceded her in death at their home on April 28, 2005. Mary attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Fatima High School. She was a member of the Lady's Sodality and a 4-H Leader. Mary was employed with Scholastics for 16 years where she received several "Highest Standard Achiever" awards for her dedication to the company. Her true passion was homemaking where she made the saying "Home Sweet Home" live to its true meaning each day. She showed her care and love by doing for others. She led by example and maintained a strong insight, embracing high moral values and care of her family. Her grandchildren were the joy and devotion of her life. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to ride a bike, play cards, and cook. They certainly have never gone short of having books to read. Mary also enjoyed working in her garden, canning, crocheting, and reading. She had a heart of gold and will always be known for her compassion and giving spirit. Mary is survived by: daughter, Diane Stiefermann and her husband Mark of Jefferson City; son, Alan Brandt and his wife Lori of Jefferson City; daughter, Mary Lea Kieffer of Kansas City, Mo.; and daughter, Jane VanderFeltz and her husband Jason of Jefferson City. There are seven grandchildren, Ryan and Leah Stiefermann, Brandon and Shelby Brandt, Katelyn, Jacob and Kolton VanderFeltz. Also included are sisters, Josephine Rustemeyer of Farmington, Florence Schaefer and her husband Daniel of Loose Creek; and brother, John Troesser and his wife Vicki of Sulphur, La. In addition to her spouse and parents, Mary was preceded in death by: two brothers, Clarence and Norman Troesser; and three sisters, Rita Marie Troesser, Rita Theresa Troesser, and Dorothy Rustemeyer. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Frankenstein with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Frankenstein with Fr. Edward "Tony" Nichols, 68, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013, at his home. He was born March 30, 1945, in Boone County, the son of Hollis E. and Flora (Johnson) Nichols. On July 25, 1986, he was united in marriage to Donna Larkin, who survives at the home. Tony was a 1963 graduate of Southern Boone High School. He served in the United States Navy. Tony retired from Missouri Department of Transporatation, where he made highway signs. He enjoyed woodworking, crossword puzzles, word searches and gardening. Along with his wife Donna and mother Flora, he is survived by five children: John Nichols and wife Margaret, Marsha Nichols, Jessica Boessen and husband Adam, Teresa Clark, and Tanya Denny and husband Alan; three siblings: Morris Nichols and wife Leona, Berry Nichols and wife Loretta and Gloria Nichols; and eight grandchildren: Shelby Mobley, Nicholas Mobley, Jonathan Nichols, Tamra Nichols, Kaleb Nichols, Jacob Meyer, William Drew and wife Suzie and Kaylee Boessen. Patricia (Pat) Louise Owen, 82, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. On February 24, 1931, she was born in Muskegon, Michigan, the daughter of the late George and Eva (Rozyski) Hylen. On October 22, 2003, in Caledonia, Michigan, she was united in marriage to Richard E. Owen who survives of the home. Pat was herself a Dominican Sister for many years. There she received her Bachelor's degree from Aquinas College, and later her Master's degree from University of Mississippi. She followed her vocation, teaching music and science in several Michigan schools including Traverse City, Alpena, Kingsley, Muskegon Catholic Central and Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. Although she taught sciences, she was an accomplished pianist and organist and had a beautiful singing voice. She chose to leave the order in 1973, and was subsequently employed by General Motors in the metallurgy laboratory until her retirement in 1991. Pat and Dick recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. They spent their winters in their "little house on the desert" and summers in the home that Dick built on Lake of the Ozarks. Survivors include: step-daughter and husband, Cynthia and Andrew Hake of Jefferson City, Mo.; brother and sister-in-law, George and Gloria Hylen; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judith and Clyde Christofferson, Kathleen and Gerald Wenskink, Rosemary and William Brogren; Jeanne Kochin; step-grandchildren and spouses, Jackie and Richard Pfenenger, Jennie and John Pfenenger, Joyce and Tyler Richardson, JoAnn and Matthew Hodges, Bryan and Jennifer Hake; six step-great-grandchildren; 23 nieces and nephews, and many friends of the Marywood Dominicans. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Jane Livingston; her first husband, Andrew Beukema; a brother, George Hylen Jr.; a sister, Mary Louise Fodrocy; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Kochin. Memorial Service will be Friday November 15, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Ozark, Mo. Hugo Reinhardt Goldammer, 86, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. He was born March 27, 1927, in Russellville, Missouri, a son of the late Otto and Josephine (Horak) Goldammer. He was confirmed on March 29, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville, Missouri. On October 8, 1950, he was united in marriage to Esther Strobel in Lohman, Missouri, who survives at the home. Hugo served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for the DX Service Station in Cedar City and was employed for over 34 years with the Missouri Department of Transportation Sign Department. Hugo was a charter member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and served as an officer of the church, a member of the building committee and Sunday School Superintendent. He also served on the District 2 Water Board. Hugo was an avid hunter and marksman. Being one of 12 children, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Along with his wife, Esther, he is survived by two sons: Michael Goldammer of St. Louis and Garry Goldammer (Shane) of Marshall; three brothers: Ray Goldammer (Mary) of Marengo, Iowa, Otto Goldammer (Shirley) of Russellville, and Irvin Goldammer (Dorothy) of Jefferson City; one sister: Della Ott of Russellville; one sister-in-law: Edna Goldammer of Lohman; and three grandchildren: Heather Goldammer of Butler, Damon Gesualdo (Makayla) of Phoenix, Arizona and Tavis Gesualdo of Centerville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by seven siblings: Herbert Goldammer, David Goldammer, Alfred Goldammer, Martha Vernon, Regina Verbarg, Roy Goldammer, and Viola Krause. Born November 18, 1935, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Orson Wendell (Ben) Shelnutt and Alice Anne Blosser Shelnutt. She was a 1953 graduate of Malta Bend High School and was a member of Malta Bend United Methodist Church. On January 20, 1979, she married Russ Harriman Jr., who preceded her in death on August 8, 2006. She lived in Ashland since 1979, was a member of Country Patchwork Quilt Guild in Marshall and Boonslick Quilt Guild in Columbia. Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Clouser and companion Marty Payne of Ashland, and Jeanine Davis and husband Mike of Holts Summit; two step-daughters, Michelle Pointer and husband Terry of rural Marshall and Kristin Moser and husband Mark of Dover; one step-son, Brad Harriman and wife Brenda of rural Pilot Grove; one granddaughter, Sarah Wilkinson and husband Sherman; three great-grandchildren: Riley and Davis Wilkinson and Bo Boessen; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one granddaughter, Alicia Boessen. Irene Edna Knernschield, age 88, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. She was born May 23, 1925, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Otto Emil and Anna Martha Goldammer Schuricht. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City. On July 1, 1951, Irene was united in marriage to Gilbert Knernschield who preceded her in death June 22, 1980. She was a homemaker, busy raising her two children and working in the family garden. Irene enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was accomplished at painting ceramics and owned Irene's Ceramics from 1985-2001. Irene also enjoyed embroidering and quilting and was embroidering quilt blocks at the time of her death. Irene was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City. She is survived by two children, David Knernschield of Jefferson City and Pamela Rustemeyer and husband Ron of Centertown; one sister, Esther Strobel of Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Sheila Rustemeyer, Erin Rustemeyer and fiancÈ Kyle Eggen, and Kevin Rustemeyer, along with several cousins, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Julius Schuricht. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City with Pastor Russ Bowder and Pastor Sam Powell officiating.
